The socially acceptable answer, it seems, is: “I had no idea how successful it would be!” as that’s what everyone always says when asked. But given the long-established love for the book, DID you expect all of this *waves hand to take in the fandom*? And when building the show, did you have it on your mind how much it would mean to so many young people to see such varied representation… or were you simply adding representation for representation’s sake?
