Going off on your post about engines and how they tend to be specialized, why is it that publishers like EA force studios to use engines like Frostbite to make games that aren’t what the engine is best at, like ME Andromeda, DAI and Anthem? Is it because they don’t want to have to pay for the development a new engine that can better handle the creation of those games? Do they have some sort of contractual obligation to use that engine?
